June 2015 NY Enterprise Technology Meetup: Event Details

For our June meetup we have some exciting companies demoing their technologies, including:

• Cockroach Labs - CockroachDB is a distributed, horizontally scalable database with transactional semantics, thus combining the best features of relational and NoSQL databases.  CockroachDB aims to bring the best aspects of Google’s next generation database, Spanner, to the rest of the world via open source. Databases should scale horizontally with minimum fuss, survive disasters of all sorts including datacenter outages, and provide the right primitives so that developers can build applications, not workarounds.

• Ravel Law - Ravel Law is a legal search, analytics, and visualization platform. Ravel enables lawyers to find, contextualize, and interpret information that turns legal data into legal insights. Ravel’s array of powerful tools – which include data-driven, interactive visualizations and analytics – transforms how lawyers understand the law and prepare for litigation. • Confluent - Confluent offers a real-time data platform built around Apache Kafka. Apache Kafka, an open source technology created and maintained by the founders of Confluent, acts as a real-time, fault tolerant, highly scalable messaging system. It is widely adopted for use cases ranging from collecting user activity data, logs, application metrics, stock ticker data, and device instrumentation. Its key strength is its ability to make high volume data available as a real-time stream for consumption in systems with very different requirements—from batch systems like Hadoop, to realtime systems that require low-latency access, to stream processing engines that transform the data streams as they arrive. This infrastructure lets you build around a single central nervous system transmitting messages to all the different systems and applications within your company.
